Vintage Elgin "trench" with offset crown

Ever since I sold my other offset crown watch (mostly because gold filled case was bothering me because of heavy wear) I have wanted another one. I came across this in an ebay auction and won it for around 100 dollars in a lot. Corner to corner it is 35.50mm wide so its rather large. Does anyone know if this looks "correct" or have any knowledge on these kinds of watches? The case on this one has only one bad spot around 10:00 and it does not bother me at all so this will be a keeper most likely. I regret selling a lot of my watches when I needed money for another watch (or bills) but this hobby for me is always the chase to the next watch I fall in love with!

I'm no expert but it looks like it is on the up-and-up to me. The dial and hands are what I would expect for an Elgin of the period and that case. Nice catch - I think you made a good buy.

Yes the watch is legit and they are sought after.

These watches would also be considered an early driver's watch. When worn on the inside of the wrist, you would not have to take your hand off the wheel of a car or the reins of a horse/buggy to read the time

Sorry, this is NOT and nothing like a "drivers" watch - its a WWI "trench watch"

A "drivers" watch has a totally different design and concept

Don't know much at all about them, but love looking at the trench watches. Would like to pick one up someday-- probably buy from Stan when I get around to it.

Took your advice 007 and got a new band. Its just a cheap one from ebay but makes the watch look so much better.
