    Vintage Fortis I.D help needed.

    Hi all,
I`ve just picked up this non-runner manual Fortis as part of a job lot.
I loved the look of the dial and the case is in good shape - it looks around the 1950`s era to me but I`d love help on both identifying the movement ,age any background info and the spares general availability (or lack of for vintage Fortis)
I`ts a new brand for me but I obviously know of their higher end watches that are well sought after and command good prices.
I`d love to get this more run of the mill offering from them up and running if possible and not too wallet draining.
The hands set,the seconds hand moves slightly when gently shaken.
I`m crossing fingers it could be just a mainspring/balance problem (a winding noise heard when turning the crown but no movement of the spring )
I don`t fix watches myself so may not be up to speed with too complex a diagnosis !
    Thanks for your time.

Can't say much about the watch except that it has some sort of Unitas movement. Perhaps the Cal. 208 (the exact size matters too in this respect):

Probably a 197 or 199 but I will tell you when I open it up :P

To revive this old thread. It's a Unitas 199 movement.

I think that this should be an easy movement to get serviced. Parts are very easily available, for example Cousins here in the UK list everything (lucky you!) for this movement. If you don't have a watchmaker near you, then PM me and I will share details of a good UK-based guy.

I know this (the exact caliber) because I currently have it on my workbench :) Thanks for the tip, I order almost all my parts at Cousins although I live in the Netherlands.

Thanks for the info Habitant but Vintage 1982 is kindly having a look at this one for me... I have a good local watchmaker in Swindon but he`s doing his best to revive an old Roamer Calendar pointer at the moment.
