    Vintage Hamilton 10K Pocket Watch

I'm helping my sister sell some of my brother in laws watches. He has this Hamilton, 10K case with inscription on the back for service 1945 - 1965. I'm guessing the watch was made in the 60's but have no clue. Serial number on the movement is X175841. Any help determining the value will be appreciated. I also have a Omega quartz, Breitling Chrono from 1977 - box all papers and receipt plus it has the time zone watch on the bracelet.

As you can see, he had the pocket watch made into a wrist watch

There's a lot of useful information out there. Movement likely dates to 1949 according to this database. There are a crazy amount of vintage Hamilton catalogs that have been lovingly scanned to help. They're on another forum and it would be rude to link to there from here, but suffice it to say that "vintage hamilton catalog" thrown into Google will help. You might find your pocketwatch base.

Value will be very subjective for a one-off piece like that. Go nuts with the sold listings search on everyone's favorite online auction site for 917 Hamilton pocket watches and see what turns up. You can go from there with a valuation.

Same goes for the Omega and Breitling. Sold listings are the easiest reasonably accurate measure of true market value. If you need anyone else's opinion, movement pictures and writing down any markings on the movements/casebacks will help.

    Good luck!

If I were You I will cut off those soldered lugs in Hamilton and polish the case to make it pocket watch again. This will for sure raise the value of it :)
