    Picture Vintage Hamilton Help!

    Hey all,

My name is Don and I recently discovered Watchuseek when I was doing research on a future purchase. I'm an ecclectic collector with a diverse brand taste (collection photos will come soon as I am currently on business).

One of my hidden gems is this Hamilton that I sniped:

Here it is with a black strap (didn't last that long):

    With a proper strap:

I was wondering if a vintage expert can tell me more information about this awesome timepiece? It's keeping time well and it's one of my proud purchases.

    Cheers,

    Don

... This is also my first thread ever and it looks like the IMG coding is different from other forums. My bad.

Welcome to Watchuseek. I am no expert on Hamiltons but the movement in your watch is (obviously - since it's stamped on the movement!) a Hamilton Cal. 987A which is the non-centre second version of this one:

This is a classic HAMILTON, known as the ENDICOTT model as shown below in their 1946 catalog.
Note that the catalog shows the applied gold numerals but does mention the luminous version as well.
While the watch looks all original including the dial, it appears to me the luminous was redone sometime later (and not very professionally if I may).
Nevertheless a fine American watch with what is often considered -the- best American made manual wind movement in all times Enjoy!

Wow! Thanks for the help, eldarinn! That brouchure is quite tempting for me to get this watch restored...

I do like the vintage patina it has though. If it could talk, I wonder what stories this watch may have!
