    Vintage Ladies Wadsworth

Nothing particularly spectacular about this one, but I like it. I bought it NOS with box. I think it's circa late 40's or early 50's. I use it as my dress watch. The Rolex Datejust is my everyday.

Here's a wrist shot. Sorry for the poor pic quality. A photographer I'm not.

Serial numbers for Elgin are available online so you can ID it with the number off the movement. Agree it looks like a 1940s watch.

Very nice. Totally cool to have the box for this watch, too. Vintage cases have a lot of character. Is the strap made out of silk?

I don't know, Rick. I'd say probably not. I work with silk quite a bit with my pearls and this doesn't have the same look or feel to it.

I agree that the watch is from the late 40s early 50s...the cords were made of woven cotton...sometimes mixed with linin or silk for strength.Natural fiber like cotton absorbered sweat, held dye well, was inexpensive to produce...but did show fray and fuzzyness from wear.
