VINTAGE MEMOVOX REF. 855 / TECHNICAL QUESTION

    Hi @all here!

Since some days on my wrist now.

    JLC Memovox (Bumper) K825 ±1955
    Name: memo wrist.jpg
Views: 163
Size: 206.0 KB

It`s fun, not only in visual aesthetics, but as well as listening to the cricketlike, buzzing sound of the alarm.
Everything is working fine, so my question comes more out of curiosity:

When the time is set clockwise, the alarm disc stays, as expected, where it is. But when it is set counterclockwise, the alarm disc moves along with the hour hand, as soon the hourhand is in the position over the triangle pointer of the alarm.
Now, of course it is absolutely not necessary to put the time ccw. But if that happens, is it "normal", or could it result in any damage?

    thx for your attention

    Hi.

Glad you got your answer. Yes - only Mods can close threads - but we only do so if deemed 'necessary' in case someone wants to add something.

Mr. Zaf Basha has his own website & forum. He is a watchmaker/expert, not only, but especially for vintage JLC`s.

    My question:
"When the time is set cw, the alarm disc stays, as expected, where it is. But when it is set ccw, the alarm disc moves along with the hour hand, as soon the hour hand is in the position over the triangle mark of the alarm. If that happens, is it "normal", or could that result in any damage?"

His answer: "It is normal but best to avoid doing that as it stresses the setting mechanism greatly."

    regards Phranz
