Thats a very nice watch. I guess it would be 1940s-50s?

    Hi there,

most likely the watch contains a Mido 0917:
bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: Mido 0917
This was made between 1935 and 1954.

But "Super-Automatic" indicates the Incastar regulator which was introduced in the late 40s. So your watch was made between ca. 1948 and 1954,

With the complete serial number stamped inside the back precise dating would be possible. Unfortunately the number between the lugs only represents the last four digits of the serial number.

    Regards, Roland Ranfft

...and once the case is opened (you'll need a watchmaker to do that, unless you have the right tool for Taubert cases), and you get to know the serial number, best contact Mido themselves. They'll respond the next day, and tell you the year it was made.

Does superautomatic means that it?s an automatic self-winding ? Because sometimes it works when we wind it manually

Automatic movements often can be wound manually. Usually it's not recommended to do so, though. Most automatic movements, however, do not have the manual winding detached. "Self-winding" and "automatic" are the same thing.

In case of Mido, "Super-Automatic" was used only on bumper automatic movements (as Dr. Ranfft mentioned, ones with the Incastar, made between 1948 and 1954) - in 1954, Mido started using rotor automatic ones, and the "Super-Automatic" gave way to "Powerwind."
