Vintage Minerva Watch - Any info much appreciated!

A few years ago, a Minerva watch was passed down to me, but there was very limited information on the watch itself and the provenance. Based on your knowledge about Minerva watches, can you tell me anything about this watch?

    Thank you very much!

Very nice watch, Valjoux 71 movement, I believe. bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: Valjoux 71

If you look at Google images, using "minerva valjoux 71" as keywords, you will see other examples. However, your case is unusual, with its faceted lugs. I'm not 100% sure that the hands are original, although perhaps they are ok and just re-lumed.

Welcome to Watchuseek! I can only go along with what Dan said. At the same time, I suspect that the dial may have been refreshed. The numerals are tarnished, the rest of the dial is squeaky clean - and that doesn't quite go together.....

But the movement is certainly in excellent condition!

At the first glance yes, unbelievable. But how can a dial be restored keeping the old corroded lume in place? I prefer that the dial is in unbelievable good condition. Unbelievable, but not impossible, since few dial makers were well able to produce durable dials (except the lume).

For instance I just passed this one to my watchmaker for servicing:

It is from ca. 1955, the lume dots are corroded, but else the dial is absolutely immaculate.
