    Vintage Rolex Evaluation

This came in a sealed $15. thrift store bag of junk watches. Just about every bag of junk watches I look at has a fake Rolex so I at first totally ignored this and put it down. Then thought I ought to look closer. Several things made me feel I should risk $15 even though I was still~70% sure it had to be fake . Can't get to my watchmaker to get it open for a couple days so I was hoping folks here could weigh in with limited information and pictures. I am actually thinking it is legit. Hard to tell using similar models on eBay. But feel free to let me know if you think it's a Harmut close the thread fake before I embarrass myself further. If I was fortunate enough to find a genuine piece anything you might be able to tell me about dating or movement usually found in these would be great.

It's a ref. 6694, and looks legit. Do post movement and case back pics, just to make sure.

I'm no expert on this but the date set at 1 looks strange. What do the other numbers look like. No big deal, get it serviced and put a new date wheel on it if need be. Just an observation

Thanks Tin. I just checked it and changed date. Numbers look fine. The Crystal is a mess. It's the scratches that are number distorting.

From what I can see it looks legit. Fantastic score, a barn-find Oysterdate. The riveted bracelet is also really desirable and looks to be in decent shape.

It looks legit and $15 is a great score.

In fact you beat me with my $25 score on Tuesday of a 14k solid gold Illinois 16s Sangamo Railroad pocket watch.

Anyway back to your watch. The watch should be a handwinding watch with a screw down crown. i had a Oyster Date Precision for about a year almost 20 years ago. It was a cool watch but a super pain in the butt because you had to unscrew the crown to wind it up everyday (yes I think it actually would run for about 2 days on a full wind but I wind my manual watches each morning) so I got rid of it.

Still it was an honest and classic watch.

I wish I knew where you scored all these cool watches......sigh.......
