    Vintage Rolex Oysterdate

I am not here regularly, but who better than you guys for this question?

What do you vintage experts think about this Rolex? The seller is asking about $1100 USD and says:

    Case:

Well, the movement looks genuine, and that's a good start:

    Hi -

While others may give their opinion about the authenticity of the watch (the Rolex forum might be a better place to ask, they're the real experts), we don't do valuations here, for the reasons listed in the sticky post at the top of the forum...

    Nice watch.

    Thanks JohnF,

I did not think I was really asking for a valuation. I was asking what those in the know (you guys) what you thought of the watch and condition. And also if the asking price was reasonable (ie. in the general ball park).

To my mind, asking for a "valuation" is a far more detailed and particularized examination of the market. I was looking for responses such as:

"No one in their right mind would pay that much for that piece of shite!"

"Hey, not a bad deal! If you don't buy it, I will!"

Anyway, I don't mean to run afoul of the rules. cheers.

well, the regulator is all teh way to one side, which may mean little, or it may mean that there is mechanical issue to be addressed.
