    Vintage Rotary Super-Sports

I picked this up for about £20 the other day. Can anyone tell me anything about it? 50s, 60s... ?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum to put this in but I don't think there's a Rotary forum on here. Thanks for reading.

You got the right forum. Far more can be said about a watch if we can see the movement inside. The caseback helps too...

From the dial, I would guess 40's or 50's. Rotary is a small but known brand. The search function will find some threads on the maker.

Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!

    My guess is mid-1940s...

By the way that is a great looking watch. I would have snapped that up so fast that I would have sprained something. Don't let anybody talk you into touching that great dial patina.

Nice find. I don't see original Rotaries at all. The company is back, bought out or rejuvenated in some way, and they mostly sell quartz watches that have the same look as the old ones. Of course, I like the old ones much, much better.

I have a 30's and a 60's Rotary - but yes, they seem to be few and far between.

Thanks for posting the watch - it is lovely.

They were sold in vast quantities in the UK - official British army suppliers at one time.
