    Vintage Timex

    Hello folks!

I just picked this up locally. It's running well and the date advances smoothly. It started up with a couple of shakes. The crystal could use some polishing and I'll clean the case up. The expandable bracelet will go into the ultrasonic cleaner.

Anyone else have one? I wonder what's inside. A Chinese movement? No issues with that but just wondering.

The movement will not be Chinese. They had the parts made in places like Thailand and Asia and had them put together in the Philippines.

Clean up around the back and pop it open. You will not be shocked by anything high quality inside. They were functional and reliable. Like a good screwdriver or hammer. It does its job when you want it to but you are not looking to show off a hammer or screwdriver....

Good point! It did catch my eye though and I'll wear it. I won't even bother opening it. I'll just clean it up and have fun with it.

    Cheers!

I'm curious about the movement myself. Everytime I pickup a nice looking timex, I get slammed with a pin lever movement inside. Lol

    Re: Vintage Timex

All Timex are pin lever, except for the Timex 400's from the early 1960's which had either Seiko/Hattori or West German Durowe movements. And I think some Timex 100's had a small ladies size 17 jewel to keep the watch thin.
