Picture Vintage Universal Genève with dry, leathery original strap

I've always liked this brand (Polerouter and Tricompax) but also their time-only models. Here is my 1940's Universal with the original strap. The strap feels very dry and crinkly but it's solid. Needs mechanical repair but I won't get a re-dial as it's still legible. I think I'll get the hands re-lumed, though.

nice watch and strap, great combo. If you wish to re-condition the strap some beewax or leather care products will make it.

If I may suggest, use warm Mink Oil in small amounts, saturate the strap gently over several days. Then let dry, and remove excess.

Wonderful combo, and the old strap gives it some extra interest!

Thank you Paleotime, zyk1on and Janne. The strap will last another 70 years now!
