    Vintage walthan Model CN 200 features a 17 Jewel French Ebauche 140 movement

    Hello everyone I just bought a vintage Waltham watch and I was wondering if anyone could tell be if it was a good or bad buy. I only paid $13 dollars so regardless its not the end of the world

    Welcome to WatchUSeek. Your Waltham appears to be in decent condition and obviously you didn't pay very much for it, so you should simply wear it and enjoy it.

    That said, these late model Walthams were entry-level watches, and are not particularly collectible because most people don't think they are worth the cost of servicing. So if it's running ok, count yourself lucky. But if it doesn't keep good time, or if it stops running, don't be tempted to have it repaired. Instead, save the cost of the servicing and invest in a higher quality vintage watch.

    A post-Waltham Waltham. Haven't seen one of those around here for a year or two. $13 seems like a fair price. Enjoy.

    (some French-made Walthams of a similar vintage only had 7 jewels)
