Best of luck on the hunt. A tad too far for me.

Well, i am more than a tad closer to Solihull than our friend 'James A' from Australia, so I am presently looking into this and checking flights into Birmingham (ten minutes away by cab from Solihull) and back out from there. Would spend the night in Solihull, hoping for good pubs in the neighborhood. So I would see you at the fair (leave the Omega's alone before I have seen them), details over watchuseek PM or regular e-mail.

One sad message however: Our well know friend Philip Priestley (1936 - 2018) has passed away. He was an expert in our field and author of the book 'Watch Case Makers of England from 1720 to 1920', containing lots of valuable information, hallmarks, makers marks etc. to identify watches. It was (and still will be) THE guide for me in this respect. I was in contact with him quite often and saw the sad news on the website of the trade fair:

Time Fairs - Clocks and watch marketplace in Birmingham or Uxbridge

I guess, we could take some nice pictures there and make everyone here, close or some tads away, turn bright green with envy, like the dial of an Indian Favre-Leuba.

@bluestifford: would be nice to see you there. A two hours drive by car wouldn't bring me much closer to the event, but by plane I could even overtake you...

Thanks guys I would love to go but after speaking to the other half, Iím told weíre going away Saturday night for my late birthday treat.
I did notice though that there will be another one in December (in north London I think ) and I will most certainly make a concerted effort to go. Much more notice too.
If you guys go take loads of photos and hope itís a great day and you get the weather too.

Damnation! No flights on Sunday in Economy anymore (not to speak of any special fares to be booked long ahead of time, but that was quite clear anyway). I could have even made it in and out of Birmingham on the same day without having to stay overnight and with sufficient time at the fair. That also excludes any combination Saturday/Sunday and Sunday/Monday.

Sunday flights, especially on short notice, are always a problem in this respect. Should have checked the availbility before. Would have really liked to go there, what a pity!
