Vintage Zodiac Seawolf diver - The question of originality

Hello, I'd like to ask for your opinions on originality, especially the bezel. Overall, the watch seems to be original, but the lunette worries me. Also unusual is the circle under the slide on the edge of the dial, which has a golden color. Such were reserved only for gilded bezel models?

    Thank you for your opinions.

    Bezel looks NOS. Original.
Crystal is correct by profile. But retention ring is a replacement of gold color.
Dial is original. Hands are correct. Little bit damaged by moisture (flaking and color change). Probably just high humidity.
    Bracelet is period correct.
Would be good to take a look inside. I expect the ref number on internal case back surface to be 702 916.
    And movement 70-72.

Definitely, the watch was restored previously.

If you haven't purchased it yet definitely ask for pictures of the movement. The gaskets on these were prone to melting and can make a large mess inside, they also make the back difficult to remove and easy to scratch by someone who hasn't removed them before.
Good eye on the gold retention ring!

Edit: I neglected to say that it is a very nice looking watch! I have one or two of them hidden away to clean up someday.

Re: Vintage Zodiac Seawolf diver - The question of originality

So it calmed me a little...

Bezel has a very light touch of pink to red in a certain light, as I have seen in other photographs of these sea wolf. You can still feel the gentle running of the bi-directional 60-click bezel. On the twelfth position still holds pretty.

Yes the hands have lost their color, but after lighting they have exactly the same shade of luminescence as the dial and even the triangle on the bezel.

And yes, movement 70-72 and ref. 722 916

Movement has nice running with measured deviation (when worn) + -2 s / 24h

There was no seal under the lid. But the bloated seal will probably be under the crown, it is very stiff.

I keep the watch for now, but as soon as I get some other watch from the watchmaker, I'll have it serviced and cleaned. Even if I have a 7-inch wrist, it's nice to wear this watch. And just in the search I found the same model (photo attached) with the gold retention ring! Is it possible that it is right there? Anyway, he does a very nice detail.

And the first mistake - the back lid is from a datomatic version, or have dial from a no date version.

You are right, 722 916 corresponds to Sea Wolf Datographic (SW with date complication)
It is not good the case back does not have gasket. Be careful and don't expose it to any moisture. Even when washing hands.
Stiff manual winding is a typical issue for this movement family. Most likely it is mechanical malfunction in mainspring and or auto winding module. Not the crown itself.
Don't use watch before it is properly serviced.

The bezel looks brand new, the rest of the watch doesn't, and the case back is incorrect. Need I really say what does that - summa summarum - mean?

What I wonder is--where did they find a NOS bezel for a SeaWolf? That in itself is a grail.

Sometime these and other rare parts pop up from retired watchmaker estates or closed service centers
Recently I was lucky enough and snagged this NOS Bakelite bezel for 946 Sea Wolf.
