    Vulcain - Not only Cricket

Vulcain is mostly known for the famous Cricket; but has also produced interesting timepieces of good and high quality.

I'd like to start an exhibition dedicated to non Cricket watches, because I think that there are a lot of interesting pieces that deserve to be shown and admired.

    Let’s go

A nice example of sandwich dial

All three moved by the same caliber

Vulcain has also produced interesting pocket watches like this

    Uncommon steel case

    A beautiful caliber

And now show your Vulcain watches....

Sorry I don't have anything to add, but I do like these watches. Something about the thin hands and sparse dial that really speaks to me.

I do have a question, is the company pronounced as Vul-Cane like in a walking cane? That's what I think of when I read that.

Awesome watches, as always, Bubba! Although I do not actively collect Vulcain watches, I happen to own a couple of pieces of which I have pictures.
The first one seems to be some sort of early diving prototype, or similar, equipped with a Vulcain 65 ME movement. It is named "Nautical", which has made me question what is written in Vulcain's book "Vulcain a passion for fine craftsmanship". For example, on page 104 it says: "In 1959, Vulcain's directors got wind of Hannes Keller's repeated exploits. On his advice, they decided to perfect a watch that would accurately indicate the decompression stops. The famous Nautical was born.". If I am correct my watch would have been made at least 10 years prior to that. I have, sadly, been unable to find any tangible information regarding the watch, perhaps someone here can help? I even contacted Vulcain, and was directed to an independent expert of theirs, but he has yet to answer. There is mention of a patent on the inside of the case back, but there is no corresponding patent number to be found.

The other piece is a Vulcain Grand Prix, now on a black leather strap.
