Curious; the case and dial would suggest this watch is '60s, but there are no import marks on the balance, and it's marked "Gendis". If I had to guess, I'd say it had gotten replaced (maybe during a service?).

Over all, import-Walthams aren't especially sought after; they're decent quality but fairly generic watches.

The dial printing is odd, particulary the off-center Waltham & logo. I expect that not even the post-Waltham Waltham would have done that, so perhaps a redial at some time.

This Waltham watch was produced after the original Waltham Watch Co. closed and was sold (1957). I'd have expected to see a "Waltham" marked movement in there. The movement itself is a Swiss Felsa caliber. The caliber number is under the balance wheel but I can't read it in the photo. A decent movement.

Any value lies in this being an heirloom watch with an award presentation engraving.

    Thanks guys, i appreciate it.

I figured as much. When i looked up waltham i didn't see any with the same dial or "super automatic" label, so i wasn't sure. But the fact that it was a service present to my son's great grandfather is probably the biggest value you are right.

    It's a Felsa Cal. 1560:

As far as I know Waltham did put out some 25 jewel models with the "Super Automatic" label, but in this case it appears the dial has been redone improperly at some time.

The "Super Automatic" was just marketing gumpf. It's no different than any other watch using the same movement.

Is it the off centre "Waltham" that makes it look redone or another aspect. Quite unfamiliar with the brand.

Yes, the off-center printing is an obvious issue - watch companies didn't do that sort of thing. Also the overall quality of the dial printing isn't the best.

As this watch has a non-Waltham marked movement there's really no saying just what the dial was originally. It could have been a Waltham dial or it could have been another brand altogether before it was redialed.
