Waltham USA stuck back (SF Bay Area)

Hi All, new member first pot 8-)
Been reading for a while... nice place you have here!

I've been given a couple of pocket watches... The youngest one has a Waltham USA marked dial, gold in colour but no visible assay marks.
There are no hinges and no relieved areas in the seam between case front or back.
    So... assumption =Screw Back?

    Well its truly stuck.
I've tried rubber gloves and even hot glued a lid to the back of the PW case, no joy.
As a last resort I oiled the seam with a pin as an applicator. Still stuck.
I am worried about breaking the stem if go any further.
Did Waltham ever produce a snap shut case without an obvious separation relief point?

So I am looking for a watchmaker recommendation, I hope in the San Francisco area, that is more experienced, ingenious and braver than myself ?

    Thanks

    Barry

Here's a good resource on different cases. Could it possibly be a swing-out case?

I don't believe so without a visible hinge.
    No hinges on mine.

Sounds like a messed up screw back. It could be dirt or rust, but often enough people try to pry open such a back even without a visible slot. They mess up the thread this way and then they fiddlle it back in somehow. It is then difficult to loosen it again. You might have to go to a watchmaker for this. Too far away from Hippie Town to give a name there.

Waltham had a lot of models with this type of back cover.

There are marks on the case indicating it was pried at some time.

With all due respect, is a Waltham worth having worked on?
Or, is that only decided by removing the back to see the movement?

Very funny. You make multiple posts about trying to open the back, the presence of hinges on the sides, etc. And then attach one photo ... of the dial.

Please re-read MY posts..... I specifically state NO hinges, none, not-a-hingeinsight.

I'm guessing first day back at work in Colorado was a long one
