    Watchmaker help please

    Hello all,

Below is the result I have found for Uhrmacher, J. Gutmann (Guttmann). The trademark J A G U is registered to J. Gutman (Guttmann). There were two found. Would anyone have the book/s referenced in the search result? I am interested in an illustration of the trademark if someone can assist. Thank you!

    Hello,

I have taken some better pics of the maker's mark. The name on top appears to be TROPHEL or TROPHEE. Among the crossed halberds are the letters J A G V. This unless the V is actually a U. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello All,

It turns out that the watchmaker of the watch is Swiss. J. A. Gindrat-Vuille of Tramelan-Dessous, Bienne Switzerland. The trademark is from 1893.

My bad. Ray is gone and John is busy. I should have said something...

... maybe only encouragement, but something. The art of being a good moderator only comes with practice and I'm a nubie.

    Marrick,

Thanks for the link! It's just amazing what is out there in cyber space. I'm sure someone would have spoke up here as well. I have always had helpful responses from the nice people here.

    Thanks again,

I wasn't getting at the moderators - IMHO all of us who use this forum to get information or 'look at my lovely watch' attention should also contribute when we can. Its not like the mods are paid full-timers, is it?

Moderators are full time well paid jobs... if you believe that I have for you a great deal on a wonderful Rolex Daytona that I am sure will work if you put a new battery in it!

Moderators are just one component of a good forum... most of the meat comes from great folks like you ... (and I didn't take your comments as aimed at the moderators... just a little disappointment we weren't meeting our perceived service level -- Gack! memos from work are leaking into this forum! )
