You may want to post in the pocket watches sub-forum.

There is the pocket watch sub-forum? Has something changed, and we can no longer post about pocket watches here? I could not find any sub forum for pocket watches. This is the only one I know of.

    Tks

From the hallmarks it's sterling silver and was made in Birmingham in 1815, though that's just the case it's referring to, the actual movement could be anything. If you post a picture of the movement we could tell you more.

The seller just sold it for 40 Euro without asking me first ( as he promised )
    Was that a fair price?

I think that the type of movement is much newer of 1815 , dial is the type used much later. as well as the words "improved patent".

sorry but I must correct. not 1815 but 1891 more correct for the dial type
    regards enrico

You will note from Mikes post that this thread was posted elsewhere and then moved into this forum which as you note is the only pocket watch sub-forum.

I would also note that it's guesswork as to where the watch was made without seeing the movement. We only know that the case was probably made in England.

seems ultra low for an early 1891 piece.
But to really say, one needs to see the movement and its condition.
My gut feel, is Euro 40 was far too low
