What can you tell me about this 1960's Pierpont watch co caliber?

I got this watch and i assumed it was a typical junk watch from the 60's since it came in a gold plated case with acrylic glass and the no-name brand of chronos.

So i took it apart to view the movement after my dad told me it supposedly had a good movement (hand wind).

Based on the info i get i might (and i know the case sucks) put it in a nicer case after i get everything cleaned up and replace the glass.

Here's the pics. Any info is appreciated.

    The engraving reads

    SEVENTEEN
    17 Jewel Swiss

There is also small engraving near the gears that reads Pierpont Watch Co

I have a couple of Pierpoints and they seem to be quite good watches.. Someone else will be able to help identify the movement.. I will take a punt and say it is an AS 1950 .. Let's see if others agree or if I am totally off base..

    Cheers

I think you're right about the movement. I did a bit of research and many of the AS/ST 1950 movements look exactly like mine.

Welcome to the Vintage/PW forum! All I can tell you offhand is that they were registered in 1918 and were located in Biel (Bienne), same place as Omega. Originally, they were called Sauter Freres & Cie. SA so you might like to look for that too.
