What do you know about the LeCoultre E2943 'Shark' ?

    x-post from JLC forum

    Hey guys

Trying to find more infor about this E2943 Lecoultre. Has the VJ72 inside.

Can´t find any info on it except on the E2643 'Shark' ,with worldtime/GMT/ minute bezel but not one with a tachy bezel.

What would you pay for one in mint condition?

    Cheers

I don´t think the hands are other lume, if you watch closely it has a greenish tint to it too.
I feel it could be a redial. BUt other than the lume I don´t see any telltale marks.

Hi, I don't think it is always wise to think that differently coloured lume on hands and dial = reworked.
My 1967 Tissot PR516 Seastar divers watch has two different colours for hands/markers, yet are original.

I would pay as much as I dared for any watch I want.

Yea but nowhere on the internet is there watch like this one so it seems kinda off. I would need a Lecoultre specialist or to find some advertisement from the late 60s/70s to find this one.

Why not try contacting JLC via their site.
    Dial looks correct.
    Movement pics would help too.

That is all I can suggest
    Its a great looking watch.

Seeing they charge 250CHF (ridiculous since I think the 75CHF from Omega is already overpriced) I doubt they will answer me for free. I don not have the watch in my possesion just now but would like to buy it if all turns out to be OK.

    Yes, I understand your point.
I am lucky that I have contact with most curators and they will usually give me the info by email.

I am sure from the dial your JLC is koshor.
Can you get a movement picture?

    If not, take a 'gamble'

Yeah turn out the seller is a scammer, I ....ing hate it. 2nd time in 1 week now. Asking me to wire him the money and he´ll send it to me. I said I´ll come pick it up since it´s only 100km away. Says he just moved to Spain. (The ad was only 1 day old)...
