What do you think of this Girard-Perregaux?

    Hello everybody!

I'm new to the horological world and I'm trying to get my first real piece.
    I've found this one.

Can you give me any opinions on it?

Kindest regards and thanks for your help.

What can You say? Size, material (seems to be solid gold, what do the hallmarks say?)? It looks genuine. The movement is not in perfect optical condition (visible corrosion / rust on bridge). Is it running? Nothing fancy anyways, and not a GP manufactured one, but based on an AS (which doesn't mean it is low quality), could be a GP 25 or 26 (AS 1525 or AS 1758).

I don't think its solid gold. The inside of the case back seems to say 20 Mikron - therefore plated. There's a chunk missing from the back of one of the lugs - but if the spring bar is still secure that wouldn't be a problem. Stylish. The crystal looks OK which is important with unusual shapes. A nice dress watch.

Not a bad deal, I would say, if one likes the style. I would not have bought it though.

O.V.E., how can you tell that it's not GP manufactured?

This is not a movement completely manufactured by GP, but they bought it as a raw movement, also called ebauche, from Adolph Schildt SA. It was and is a common practice and does not disqualify the watch or movement. But GP also did and does still develop and build movements inhouse completely.
