What do you think of this vintage Baume & Mercier?

I'm interested in this beautiful watch on ebay, but not sure if there's anything I should be wary of. I'm interested in your opinions. It is selling at over $300. Specifically, the chrono controls look strange to operate.

    Thanks!
It certainly is unusual. I have not seen one like it before. As such, the current price seems low... especially considering what looks to be very good condition.

It ought to be a monopoussoir (single pusher) chronograph with a Landeron Cal. 80 minus calendar:

    bidfun-db Archiv: Uhrwerke: Landeron 80

Not sure why one would use this but drop the calendar but it is also possible that it is a Cal. 48 with swapped parts (Ranfft states something to that effect in his link).

I'm sorry as I am a new to this and didn't even know monopushers existed until today. Are you saying that this is a fake or has been modified? I'm just trying to learn. I won't be bidding on this as the seller has a few negative reviews for fakes. The listing did say the dial was refinished but I have not been able to find the same dial anywhere else either. Thanks for your help.

I thought the minute recording jumper might be missing, but maybe it's just too thin to show up well.

Re: What do you think of this vintage Baume & Mercier?

It is obviously a Landeron movement. It is also obviously a monopoussoir chronograph - no pushers other than the one in the crown. The movement was not made by B&M - they never made any themselves. There is nothing fishy about that since relatively few companies ever made their own movements. When they got this ebauche (="rough movement"), they obviously modified it to make it into a monopoussoir movement since the original movement was designed to have two pushers (you can still see the notches at 2:00 and 4:00 for the original pushers). Since this is too elaborate to fake, I would not worry - it will have been done by B&M when the watch was made originally.
