    What Movement is This?

I'm thinking of trying to find a wrist watch case for it, just curious what the make was. I haven't been able to find any info. Looks like it might be a 6497, but I'm not sure, there are a few subtle differences.

    It is a M. A. Mead & Co. Grade 270.

Looks to be based on the earlier Unitas 83, 85 or 87.

Are they the same size as a Unitas 6498? I'm hoping to snag one of those pilot case/dial/hand kits for the 6498 and put together a wrist watch.
    :thanks:thanks

Edit: Ranfft says they're both 16.5'''. I think it looks more like a 6498 than an 83. It's got the same plate arrangement as the 6498. They're just slightly different shapes and have chamfered edges. There's no stamp under the balance except the SWISS seen in the pics.

    Here's ranfft's pic of the 83

    Maybe a Unitas 404?

    EDIT2:
the plate layout is different than the Unitas stuff. The stem is up in all these pictures, as it is in my picture.

I think it's a movement manufactured by Avia, Degoumois & Cie. Can't find a detailed picture, however.

Damn - while I was trying to figure this out, the real answer was posted. Oh well...

    Hi Barnaby,

not that uncommon oppinion. The US import codes are often (if not always)
assigned to the importer, and as Mead & Co. mainly imported Avia watches,
you usually find the code MOV on movements finished by Avia, and sold under
the brand Boulevard in the U.S.A.

Thanks! I hoped you'd be along soon to shed some light. Thanks to cellar as well for the catalog pic! :thanks

    I assume since it's a 17''' it wont fit in the cases for a 16.5''' 6497, correct?

I don't know anything about the mouvement but it's beautiful, even without Geneva stripes.
