What old hamilton or bulovas are worth collecting?

I'm looking into getting a a prewar hamilton or bulova watch for under $200. I see a lot of models on ebay that I like, but I don't know if they are for a good or not. What models should I look out for under $200?

For Hamiltons, there's a thriving community of serious Hamilton collectors at vintagewatchforums.com who can tell you more than you ever needed to know.

    For Bulovas, there's mybulova.com.

Hamiltons were higher quality watches and commanded higher prices than Bulovas, and that is reflected in the prices they get today.

+1...I would add that you should figure a good service into your budget. Depending on where you are located a basic COA (clean, oil, adjust) will run between $50-$150. Autowinds and watches with complications (such as a date function, etc) are generally more. Your purchase price should reflect the necessity of service.
