Whats the Longest You Have Waited for Vintage Grail to Come for Sale?

I have been looking for a Camy Sputnik 4.X.1957 to come up for sale for a number of months now and I was just wondering...can this take years?

I have been waiting on a Vostok Amphibian 300m wire lugs to come for sale at a reasonable price for over a year now...

Also I have been looking for dateless vintage Amphibian blue scuba dude for about 6 months.

Congrats on your sought after find. It's always satisfying and joyful to get a timepiece you were desiring.I am sure you've enjoyed the hunt.

I was waiting for one for a pair years and it was not surfacing from anywhere. It was the grail for me for that time.

Then I decided to bring the doom day closer by searching and tracking the owners. If the watch doesn't come to me, I go to the watch kind of :)

I found one and contacted the owner.A real gentleman,a retired F-105 Thunderchief pilot who was happy to sell it for its value for another warm home.

The watch was a limited 100 pieces manufacture in the year 1969,a chronograph from the brand I am collecting. It has been produced to support the American SST project Boeing 2707 but due to its cancellation by the US senate in 1971 it ended up in the European Aérospatiale Concorde pilots and first flyers.

The Glycine Airman SST Chronograph with Valjoux 724 movement:

Now I have another grail - understood that this subject is changing within years through this journey. At this time I hit stone and need also much more $$$, not only time.

If you add not just for sale - but getting in the price I could reasonably afford...I have grail hunts that exceed 2 yrs. My 1930 Bulova President was a two year hunt for the combination of price, dial and condition. I have others running longer but no yet found.

    @Emre

Wow...now that is a hunt and find of a rare watch. Congrats.

I guess everybody has a dream and if you've luck its available. I've had more than luck because of a double. I knowed graphics of the GFJ lettermovement from books and I know it excists but never thought I get one. Suddenly I found a wrong discribed incomplete movement in the american bay. It was a long night but I get it. It walks as a long time project to my watchmaker and together with friends we reconstructed the lever/balance part. Then a wonder happen. Just as the project nearly ends after more than a year I found a complete nearly intact watch with this movement. They are still my holly grail. A watch and I love to see the "odd" movement ticking in a plexi box and the watch is restored now also.

I still can't believe that they are mine

    Thanks Paleotime.

The second part of the story was even more awarding, because the same gentleman had also the same watch with GMT version.

Back in time he bought them together in Hickam Base Exchange Center. So the detective work paid back very well:

    Those are incredibly sexy.
He wasn´t willing to sell the GMT model as well? ;)

Depending If you are paying market value or you are looking for a good day it may take up to a few years.

I have waited over a year to get a correct dial for my Great Grandfathers pocket watch, and like PaleoTime condition and price were major factors,i still have a few weeks to wait because the dial is in transit,so wish it a safe journey.

    Cheers,

I have watch brands that I've been waiting years to find never mind individual watches. Though I don't search that often to be honest as are too many false results.

Five years plus for a quartz Girard Perregaux with a very rare dial and nearly the same for a Longines Ultraquartz at a price I could live with. I've waited for parts for similar periods of time.
