Where to find Patek 2434 dial?

    Hello!

I am looking for a dial for my partner's grandfather's watch. The
original was 'lost' by a watch repairman some years ago, and we haven't been able to find a replacement.

The reference number for the watch is 2434, made by Patek Philippe. It is the white dial with the gold stick markers. A photo is attached, although the original actually had a slightly raised gold circle around the small second hand dial area.

I have looked on eBay, as well as other websites, and have been contacting dealers. Does anyone have any more info, or leads on where I could find this piece?

Thank you very much in advance!

OUCH!!! You sue the watchmaker for all he's worth and get Patek to install a new one!

    Seriously, there are two options:

    1. Approach Patek. Assuming they still have a spare, you get at least a fully genuine replacement (unfortunately, nothing will get you the watch into 100% original state now) which will maximise its value under the circumstances. The negative aspect is the cost - I wouldn't expect anything less than a four figure bill!

    2. Go to a professional dial maker. They will make a new one that will look very good and spotless. The negative aspect: the watch will not be 100% Patek, the cost may well be significant if not similar if it is to be good and the end value will be less than if Patek had done it.

Good luck in deciding - and the subsequent quest!

    Hartmut,

Thanks so much for the thoughtful and extensive reply! Unfortunately, the dial was stolen over a decade ago, and my partner spent a few years trying to get it back, including by leaving the watch with Henri Stern co. in NYC for over a year, to no avail.

I just submitted an estimate request on communications form on the Patek site, but if you have any further suggestions on how best to get a hold of them, please let me know!

    Again, thank you.

International Dial may build one for you. I suspect it won't be for their normal (very low) fees but I have absolutely no doubt it would be less than what Patek would charge.

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!
