Question Would you wear this radium watch?

I have this 1960s Venus diver watch, would you wear it almost everyday? In the dial you can read Ra swiss made Ra 1.5 UC, can you give me more information of this watch, what movement could be inside?

    thanks to everyone Name: image.jpeg

Without opening the case and having a look at the movement, sorry, it isn't possible to say what movement is in there. A generic one, that's for sure. Well, at least I can't look into a closed case- maybe someone in here can, using a crystal ball.

Would I wear it? Yes. One of my favourite daily wear watches has radium lume, and I haven't yet grown a second head or a third hand. As long as you take the necessary precautions against accidentally inhaling the rather carcinogenic gas, which has gathered inside the case, and as long as you don't touch the dial or hands (or wash them properly after touching the dial and hands), then you're safe.

I agree with MKWS, I'd wear it, in fact it's one of the better looking divers I've seen and the case back is great

    Matt

Oh and if radium caused us to grow a third hand we'd all be wearing them so we could wear three watches at once

I'd wear it. Love a watch with some character. I'd definitely have the gaskets and lube checked before making it an everyday addition to the collection

That lume is quite bright for Radium from the 60s. None of my Ra watches glow nearly that bright. Is it possibly relumed?

Considering 1. It's actually glowing, and 2. It's under a UV light.. i'd say that that is tritium and not radium.

I've had a early 70's tritium diver that barely glowed in normal circumstances but lit up like that with a UV light on it.

Great watch, I would wear it every day.
Harmless if not ingested, radium lume glows under UV.

Radium has a half life of 1600 years so it's just as powerful as when it was new but the phosphorus material will decay over time.
