Wristwatch bands - Source and quality....

This post is part plug for a company (not mine) and part review. Relevant to vintage watches too...

Two Christmases ago, I was in Germany and while there, was introduced to the local watch maker in the town by my in-law's home. Southern Bavaria, etc... He sourced his watch bands from a company in Germany and they offered really nice German-made products. I bought a band while I was there; thought it was nicely made. I later looked up the company and had my father-in-law order some for me and ship them to me stateside. Kind of a pain, but for quality I figured it was worth it.

I figured out that the company will ship internationally.

Went very nice with two late 1940's watches.

The drawback to the site is, it is all in German. I got my wife to help, she's fluent. If anyone is lacking with the "Deutsch Sprechen" skills like me, but uses Google Translate, please report back.

Hope this helps someone else out.
All that I know is based on the hard work and writing of others. I can only aspire to augment this body of knowledge. If I am wrong it is because of my own failings. To quote Newton, "If I have seen farther it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."

First of all, using Google Chrome as a browser allows for automatic translation of foreign language websites.

As we are talking German watch strap sites, I'll give a shout out to Watch Band Center, entirely comprehensive in breadth and happy to ship anywhere in the world. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't sell Jack's example; have a hunt around on their English language website. Fluco are the brand I favour for vintage watches; you can search by many terms and save them on a wish list to make comparisons. Great service, in my experience.

I just buy ZRC straps for my watches from my local jewellery supplies shop. Save on RRP by buying them at the prices the watchmakers are buying them for.
