    YEMA automatic.

    Hi Guys,

I would like to get more info about that watch, manufacture date and rough value..... ; it is a Yema automatic with mentioned at the back YE929 and Y675. Will service it if it worth it (polish + new glass).

    Thanks, Phil.

    Hi Phil

We have a Yema collector who will probably stop by in a day or two who may be able to give you some information.

But we do not attempt valuations in here for all sorts of reasons. There is a sticky explaining some of them.

    Cheers.

    Thanks Marrick;

Will wait for the "specialist" reply ! I understand your position regarding the watch value, but it would be nice for me to have a rough idea because I need this info in order to decide or not to put money for service or not....

    Regards, Phil.

"Yema" is french watch, and looks to me like rather new watch-80's or 90's maybe.I know they use "Felsa" movements. For approx. value try ebay.

They also used France Ebauche movements. And they were owned by Seiko for quite a while and I think some autos had Seiko movements - but I'm not sure about that.

    Hi again Phil

Following our private conversation regarding this YEMA, I'm now glad to see the pics

If polish + new glass is all you intend to have done (if it runs fine), I think you shouldn't hesitate : the cost shouldn't be exaggerate, and the watch looks damn good and it's all that matters.

I got the acrylic cristal polished on the Meangraf and the result was just great

I can't clearly see the caseback (could you post a bigger pic ?) but it looks like the watch is from the Hattori (Seiko) era. So there might be a SEIKO movement inside

Yes, Yema was owned by Seiko for I believe about 20 years. During that time several watches were issued that used Seiko movements including the venerable 4S15.

    Re: YEMA automatic.

Ok Reno thanks for the input; perhaps you can clarify one point for me: I can adjust the handles with the winder pulled without any issue, but back in its original position the winder turns freely...is it normal ? To me, if like many other watches, it should not turn freely and instead charge the automatic movement ins't it ? Otherwise, on my wrist, the watch works perfectly.
By the way, your Yema looks great !!! Congrats ! How old it is ?
I will post better picture of the case back.

    Thanks, Phil.

That's the clue we're looking for. It lacks hand-winding so it's sure to be a Seiko movement.

The Meangraf is from the 70s' it belonged to my grandfather
It's a manual winding movement, probably a France Ebauche.

I have two YEMAs from the same era :

    And this one, the "UFO"

I'm with Chascomm, the movement is most likely a SEIKO on yours
