How about a more representative collection of Anonimo watches for the forum header?

It looks like the forum here has been facing some slow news days, so here is a topic that I have thought about off and on over the course of the last few months--the eight watches in the Anonimo forum header seem decidedly unrepresentative of the current (or past) Anonimo line. For example, of the 8 watches, 7 are black dials, and 1 is dark blue. While I personally prefer black dials, I also like variety--one great thing about Anonimo that sets itself apart from Panerai (among many other reasons) is the wider variety of dial colors available in the Anonimo line. These colors include at least: black, tobacco, cream, parchment, yellow, blue, orange, gray, green and possibly others. Also, there seems to be an overabundance of Ox-Pro cases featured--as far as I can tell, there are about five such cases--not at all representative of the line that predominately uses SS cases, followed by Ox-Pro, and then bronze. Only one SS case seems quite odd. Is there an example of what must be the most commonly sold model in the entire Anonimo line up, the Millemetri, in the collection? If so, I can't find it. There are many other whole lines that seem to have been overlooked, while several that are included look quite similar to one another, particularly, from the left, numbers 3, 4 and 5 (though I grant you that #3 is obviously fairly unique in its own right). How about having a poll and have members choose the 8 MOST REPRESENTATIVE (or POPULAR, or...?) watches to be featured in the header (or perhaps rotate the whole line over a fixed course of time), instead of just presenting the "dark side" of Anonimo?
    Just a thought.

Since this is a non sponsored forum we can probably make a few dress up changes. Ernie is away for a few weeks on holiday with his family but I will send him a PM to see if he is open to change the header. Maybe we can have a design contest?

Sounds good Michael--obviously not a pressing issue, but might be fun to see a bit of a change/update.

I've sent a PM to Ernie so now we wait for his return and see what he says. Let's keep talking.

The other option is to do it as a forum project. It was done this way a few years back on Seiko.

I received the OK to design a new Forum header form Ernie. Specifications are:

1000 pixels wide and appr. 200 high.

So how do we want to go about this? Group effort. teams or individual contest?

Re: How about a more representative collection of Anonimo watches for the forum header?

Good news, Michael. Not sure what you mean by the three choices listed--perhaps suggestive elaboration?

Just to get the ball rolling, though, on Topper's site, there are four basic Anonimo "collections": Basic (7 models); Militare (6 models); Professionale (5 models); and Dino Zei (4 models)--and just for the sake of simplicity, let's say we keep the current Forum Header head count at 8 watches. Seems the simplest thing to do would be to have people vote for their single most favorite watch, or perhaps even better, the most representative watch (including case finish and dial color), one from each group, and after a month or so see if there are enough watches repeatedly voted for in each group to be included, taking the top two vote getters in each collection.

Or, even simpler, do a poll listing all 22 basic current models (ignoring dial and case variations here), and limit members to something like four votes each, one for each collection, and then take the top 8 point getters, and you, Michael, can simply choose the actual dial colors and case finishings in such a way as to provide a balance of dial colors, and cases.

OK--this is just a primitive first suggestion, as I say, to get the ball rolling--sounds good, or, other ideas?

I am good with a poll listing all the 22 models. However I would not put a constraint on how many votes can be casted. Each forummer should be able to choose from 1 to 22 watches. This way of selecting among alternatives (called approval voting) works quite well in practice and makes ties less likely.
