So... I have this D-Date first prototype

For a number of years now I haven't been so into watches, which makes me think that perhaps I'm not the right person that should have ownership of it. From my understanding, it was at one time in personal collection of the company's president. Is it worth hanging on to, or would it be wise to put it up for sale? If I decide to hold on to it, would this be a difficult piece to have serviced down the road since the company no longer exists? Thanks in advance.

As an aside if I parted with it, I still would have an Ox-Pro Hi Dive.

Sounds like you are no longer passionate about it. If you didn't feel attach to it, sell it. Its not going to appreciate down the road. /

Like "whywatch9" said, if you have to ask the question, then it no longer means all that much to you--it isn't worth holding onto in terms of appreciation, but then you dan't have to rush out and give it away either--it is unique in that your watch appears to be in a bronze case, the only D-Date I have seen like that.

No problem with servicing, even way down the road.

With a few conditions--some watch repairers will NOT look at your Nimo for the very simple reason that if something does go wrong, there are no back up parts--to save themselves potential issues in that regard, they simply won't touch it (I have had a few turn me away for this reason). And yes, while the movements are relatively simple, some parts on the watch are Anonimo-specific, and while they may potentially be fabricated anew, if necessary, they could be very expensive--this includes the extra thick crystals, some parts of the unusual cases (even the hex lug screws!), the helium valves, and the water resistant gaskets, to name just a few--not quite as rosy as suggesting "no problem down the road," but not a complete dearth of alternatives either. Think of it as trying to get a hundred year old pocket watch up and running again--yes, it probably can be done--but not everyone can do it, and depending on the issue, could cost more than it is worth.

You just have to find one that's 'worth his salt', like mine.
