[MRG-G1000B] To buy or not to buy.

That’s the big question. The watch was released 3 years ago?

There’s a 20% off sale at our local department store and seriously thinking of getting it. To wear it myself or to flip it.

20% off is great if you're buying it for yourself, but IMO not enough to buy just for the profit potential.

My advice is to buy it only if it sings to you. Don't worry too much about whether it's the older model or not - it's different enough to the MRG-G2000 to be judged on its own merits (although I recommend that you check one of those out, too).

    Good luck with the decision!

It's a beautiful watch, and worth that asking price IMO. I've had mine for 3 years now.

Just fyi, if I were you I would not count on being able to flip it for $$. Perhaps you could. However, the market for those is always unpredictable. (that's a lot of money! And in that price range a lot of ppl will rule out Casio...) And personally - if I'm going to put over $2K into a watch, I'm much more likely to buy from an A/D than some private seller.

I agree with the wise men above. 20% off MSRP is a good deal for yourself, but you'd need to go lower if you want to sell a top of the line, regular production pre-owned watch. Maybe in a few years when production has ended and you manage to keep it in pristine condition... But I wouldn't count on that.

Otherwise by all means go for it! It's a fantastic, comfortable, legible watch that is accurate everywhere in the world and looks, feels like a tank.

A couple of pics of mine.

Myself been toying the idea of getting a MRG. But not the DLC coated. I kinda prefer the dial layout of the G to B or the 2000. Am waiting for a good online deal to treat myself

    Thanks all.

Might go for MRG-G2000 or the red MRG-G1000 when I go to japan. As pictured below, I like the red accents better.

So for now instead of that, I bought another silver square to mod it with dlc band and bezel.

I'm not into buying watches as investments, especially MR-Gs, since they frankly don't retain their value. Buy it because it's beautiful. I love my G1000 and think it's the best looking dial of all MR-Gs.

"When the shadow of the sash appeared in the curtains it was between seven and eight o'clock and then I was in time again, hearing the watch. It was Grandfather's and when Father gave it to me he said I give you the mausoleum of all hope and desire.... I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you might forget it now and then for a moment and not spend all your breath trying to conquer it."

If you’ve not already got a MR-G you’ll not want to sell it if you buy one and 20% is not to be sneezed at.

Re: [MRG-G1000B] To buy or not to buy.

I got a very lightly used G2000 for half retail.

Buy for yourself because they ooze quality and look beautiful, sell if you want to take a huge hit.

Edit: Saying that, just remembered, I bought a used G1000 for £1,200 and sold it a few months later for £1,400
