18K Gold Casio x Art Is The Alibi G-Shock DW-6900 | The Quasi

Over the years we have seen many custom works on the iconic Casio G-Shock DW-6900. Pharrell Willimans, Kanye West and Nigo have showed off pimped versions of the watch, usually using heavy metals and stones. One can say that the concept is not entirely new. Jan Mihm and Charlie Müller of Berlin based Art Is The Alibi now also took a shot at the watch. The cover of the case has been removed and replaced with a 18k solid gold cover. The mix of 18k gold and an otherwise rather in-expensive plastic watch has always been intriguing. Obviously the watch does not come cheap – priced at 19′000 Euros (28′000 USD), the watch is limited to 25 pieces and will be exclusively available at colette and also through Art Is The Alibi.

How much money will you get back if you try sell by auction this 19.000.- Euro watch? 3000.- or 4000.- Euro?

I would rather than this pimped Casio buy for this money a golden Rolex Daytona ... hypothetically speaking

    Good grief...

It appears they used en exclusive European DW-6900E-1ER model as the base for this mod.
It used to retail for about 85 Euro few years back.

Kinda reminds me of putting $20,000 rims on a Hummer.....just doesn't make sense. Although I see expensive rims and low profile tires on 4x4 SUV's all the time. Just don't get it....maybe I'm not supposed to.

Just be grateful you don't 'get it'.

Man, for $28,000 they can't even bother to take better pictures?

Im assuming the pic was not taken by Plantetz and that he does not have one.
Sorry if I took a jab at your photography if so.

    Hi,
I kinda like the gold and blue combination. Ok the price is . What I don't get is why nobody has for example thought about giving the DW-6900 a complete steel case with a screwback and steel bezel - making a MRG-6900 - that would be cool. Still the gold and blue go well together . They should have given it a golden bracelet too however .

    Greetings, Sedi

The thing I find interesting is that they always seem to use the same old, fairly clunky models with average display qualities to bling up...

...a certain amount of drugs are obviously involved in the process.

This one is cool in its own right, but a little far fetched and no where near practical, I would like to see a solid Titanium or Stainless steel DW-6900. With the strap looking identical to the resin one, only pivot points, that would be awesome. Did any of you see the solid silver bezeled frog that was over in Watch Sales a few weeks ago? That was wicked looking!!
