the sad thing is gold/gold color is the least favor to the Gshockaholics - example: the dw-5025b-7 rising white can't get the same value as its fellows sharing the same status: screwback, limited edition ...ect

    j/k

I wonder... with the added weight and stiffness from the metal, is it still as shock proof as the original?

Unless they changed the internal parts, probably not -- a resin bezel would absorb or dampen a SMALL amount of impact.

Then again, Casio might have slipped some "alpha gel" into the case where the GW-5000 doesn't have any, so it might even be MORE shockproof!

Perhaps most the G-Shock fans here are more into good engineering and less into exclusive fashion.

Gold is purely fashion, it is a terrible material. Resin is a really great material, many people don't find it particular fashionable though. Unless it is for weighting fishing lines resin beats gold in nearly every application.

of course not, but with all the padded rubbers inside covering the module it will survive drop test, maybe not as much, perhaps 50%

so it will survive if you wear it during a boxing match ... not with Mayweather of course (since the man don't fight...but run) LOLz

Not sure if I like that. I wonder if it'll be a super limited release model.
