5600 is my green eggs and ham

Like the Doctor Seuss story, I purposely stayed away from the 5600 because it's the exact opposite of the hefty watches I prefer like the Raysman. But the JCPenney sale was too much-- 25% off plus an additional off with a scratch ticket?! Let's just say while the sales lady was occupied my buddy and I made *sure* B-) I got the best scratch ticket (20%). All told I got my GW-5600J at $65 when it was all said and done and I was very happy with the purchase.

As for the watch itself, I was doubtful I'd like it so much but man was I wrong. I love this watch! I finally found the 'beater' watch among my G's that I was looking for. It's elegant in its understated functionality and very comfortable on the wrist, I dunno why I avoided it for so long. Anyway here are the pics..

5600 with the US packaging in case any non-american cares:

    The beautiful GW-5600J itself..

and last but not least, I love the little 'G' on the buckle. Just the little oomph in style that puts it over the top!

I am also loving my GW-5600. It doesn't have every single feature that I crave, but there is just something about this watch that "does it for me". All of my other G-Shocks, except for my weekend DW-6900, have temporarily taken a backseat.

I have noticed that the resin on my GW-5600 is holding up unexpectedly well. My DW-5600 developed scuffs and small rips very quickly, where the GW-5600 looks as good today as when I bought it a few weeks ago. I’m not sure if it’s luck, subtle differences in shape, or a higher quality of resin.

I think all the 5600 line is underestimated, people prefer the bulky ones like Mudman,Raysman etc.5600 are great everyday watches and everybody has to own at least one...

    Pssst, don't tell any one,

I'm wearing a DW-5600 right now, and yesterday I got the refreshment kit for my DW-5200 (Thanks Neil and Leon!), so that was what I actually wore yesterday!

    Cheers,

Hehehe, the search is all part of the charm!

I like the idea that you usually can't just log onto ebay or wherever and just get one. They turn up often enough and sometimes in the oddest places.

I've stripped down my G collection to DW-5600E, DW-5600C and DW-5200. The screwback 5 series just have such a nice 'heft' on the wrist.

    Cheers

    Hanzeman,

If I can get one for around €5,- here it won't be too difficult to find oneI would like to have a yellow and green version of the DW-5600C. Those are my favotites. The green one will probably always be my uthopie, I guess...

    Cheers.
