    Accidental Collector

I never set out to "collect" G-Shocks. Over the years if one caught my eye and could be had for a good price, I bought it (and let me tell you I'm "cheap" ). I've only recently considered actually looking for some of the more limited models and admitting to my addiction (or so my wife calls it). Anyway, I don't think I've ever shared my entire little "collection" with the forum, and since my camera is on the fritz I just collected pictures of the ones I have off the Internet. One of these days I'll get a good "live" photo posted. So, (insert drum roll here) ta dah...here are the Buddha G's....

    Re: Accidental Collector

Verry nice collection buddha-g I'm curious. When you say you picked up a 'G, here and there if they came available and were for a good price, was that mostly thru department stores or just surfing the web? Reason I'm asking is most of my g-shock purchases are via the internet because Seattle seems woefully desolate of g-shock-carrying stores. Like I've even said in other threads, the few watch specialty stores that sold current G's, are going out of business and closing. Even the Macy's here doesn't sell G's....

    Re: Accidental Collector

In the early days back in the late 80's and 90's there was a national chain called Service Mechadise that sold a large selection of watches including a great many G-Shocks. That's where I got my first two G's and a Citizen. That chain closed in bankruptsy sometime back, but by then the Internet had come along so most of my purchases since about 2000 have been on-line. You can get much better pricing hunting on the Internet. For example Target or Wally World sell the DW5600E for ~$59 (in my area), but you can get one on-line for as low as ~$30. I'd say on-line sellers are generally 25-50% less than retail outlets for "common" models in this area. Of course, the "hard to find" models always cost more no matter where you find them.
