ADJUST button not working in a G-Shock GWM500A

I got a used G-Shock GWM500A. The top left ADJUST button is not working. I have tried pressing it quite hard/long.

Any idea if this is a easy fix?

I am in Chicago time zone but the watch is on California time. Any other trick to change the home time zone (w/o the ADJUST button)? None of the functions are usable w/o the ADJUST button.

    Thanks in advance.

According to the manual, you need the adjust button. It does say to hold it, have you tried holding it down? Otherwise I’m not sure.

Sounds to me like someone's had it open before and the module isn't sitting properly.

I've had this loads with used G's. What happens is the button contact on the module can get caught on the button stem if the module has been out of the watch. The way I do it it to use a small screwdriver or tweezers to push the contact in as the module is pushed down. Do this with all 4 contacts and I reckon it will be fine.

Dunno if this helps... but try re-seating the module inside. Same problem happened to me when i changed a battery before, when i closed the watch, 1 button was not functioning, so i opened the watch again, re-adjusted/re-seated the module and it solved the problem. Good luck.

edit: sir sodamonkey beat me to it

    The watch is probably defective

I had a GW500 (the predecessor of this watch with 5 multi bands instead of 6 like the GWM500A has) and the module became faulty and the adjust button stopped working

However i cannot see anybody needing to open the watch, It is solar. Perhaps this was a watch that had a crappy solar storage battery? If so and if it was replaced, the battery might have been replaced with a non rechargeable battery.

If you can get your money back by sending it back, I would do so. The GW5xx/GW-M5xx are great watches but you can buy a brand new one for less then $75 shipped so no need to go used

    Good luck
