Looks to me like some kind of casing mount where the straps slide into it. I think this is for mounting your watch to something other than your arm, to help hold it fast to a tubular mount such as a pole. I imagine an ultra-light or hang glider (hence "Aero"). Mount this on a pole near the pilot seated position so you can view the time without looking down at your wrist.

Thanks Xevious, doesn't sound much interesting. Such a pity, 'cause they look cool and I've found 4 units for 5 euros here: https://www.amazon.es/Casio-AERO-GRI.../dp/B00KKR848I

You're welcome. I wrote a message to the seller... you might want to try as well. I suggested they provide a photo with it attached to a watch. Picture worth 1,000 words, and such.

eBay infuriates me. They shrink any messages sent by sellers so small... practically useless.

Anyway, seller sent me 2 photos:

Confused as to What this contraption actually do? Aside from engraving your wrist with "casio" after taking off your watch?

I am guessing a device to keep the sweat down, and grip the wrist better so it doesn't flop around, air pocket between arm and watch.

It sure will make your watch look much thicker, but still can't figure out how's that for.

Unless you are allergic to stainless steel, lol.

That one feels like the best explanation yet. Still: what a strange device!

Then again, it might help to recreate the feel when you've been wearing a DW-002 for years and you update to newer models.

    Strange anyway, indeed.
