    Question Affordable Gs with bracelets

    Hi folks,

I have been an anonymous reader here on WUS (the G-Shock forum in particular) for a while now, and today I decided it was time to sign up.

I have a small collection of mechanical watches (Seiko, Citizen, Orient) and recently purchased a GW-810BD to have a tough beater with atomic time for synching my other watches. Much to my surprise, the GW-810BD has quickly become one of my favorite watches. I really like its all-black stealth look, and although the bracelet is a little clangy, I find it extremely comfortable. The module has all the timing functions I need, and the negative display looks great with legibility being much better than I expected.

As a moderate watch enthusiast, of course, I started doing some more research, and I am completely stunned by the countless models available on different markets all over the world. Until a few weeks ago, I had never even heard of exotic models like the frogmen or MR-Gs.

At the moment, I am trying to decide what G-Shock to pick up next, and there are many models which I find interesting. However, I am not a fan of resin straps at all. I know a lot of people love them, but I just can't get used to them, because they always feel stiff, make my wrist sweat and never seem to fit quite right. I read that a lot of members changed the resin straps on their watches to bracelets, but the prices of spare bracelets seem very salty to me, so it would probably be a better idea to choose a watch that comes on a bracelet.

My favorites so far are the G-800BD-1V and the MT-G-910.

The G-800BD-1V has the very functional module of the mudman and looks absolutely amazing with its blue-greenish. However, the case is the same as the one on the GW-810BD, so for variety's sake, this may not be the best choice.

As for the MT-G-910, I really like the beefier appearance of that model. It really looks like it's built to last. Atomic/solar is always nice to have, but the lack of a CDT could be a bummer. I am also unsure about the reliability of this model. Weren't there problems with the batteries used in this watch?

Two other models I find very interesting are the GL-7000 and the MT-G-911, but from what I understand these are very hard to come by.

If you guys know any alternatives below 200$ with bracelets (doesn't need to be SS, composite would be fine as well) that I ought to have a look at, I would greatly appreciate it.

Many thanks and greetings from Germany

    Welcome aboard!

    How about the GW-M5600BC?

Although it is not officially available in Germany, you can get it from European sellers and forgo the customs hassle that you get with ordering from other regions. The model has a failry heavy feeling composite bracelet with square black steel links and the other links having a resin shell around a metal core. I find that to be on top of my list of comfortable Casio bracelets (otherwise consisting of MR-G and GIEZ as well as my wife's Baby-Gs).

    Some pictures of this model:
    https://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?p=2117674

You can get it from this seller in the UK (from which I bought mine about a month ago) for less than the German list price of the resin-strapped version (GW-M5600):

    http://cgi.ebay.de/Casio-G-Shock-GW-...3286.m63.l1177

The only downside might be its reverse display, but that's a matter of personal preference.

Or, if you can shell out a bit more money, you might be interested in the GS-1100D GIEZ, the only current version with a bracelet:

In Germany it retails for a 399,- list price, but you can get it in the lower 200s from the UK. For example:

    http://cgi.ebay.de/Casio-G-Shock-Wav...3286.m63.l1177

I have not bought from this seller, but his feedback looks pretty solid.

Welcome aboard. I would 2nd the GWM5600BC. Availability is a bit spotty, but if you are in the states, shopemco thru Amazon has some stock right now.

Now I see you are in Germany.

Just yesterday I saw someone wearing a MTG900DA-8V and I thought it was really nice. I had to look it up I liked it so much. The red G really stands out on the otherwise monochromatic watch. SS bracelet, atomic and solar. Here's a picture

Amazon carries it here in the US for $92 USD. Maybe you can find it or something similar in Europe.

Greetings and Welcome to the Forum!

I too share your feelings about the resin straps. With your same goals in mind I chose this watch below which is just a bit over your price, it's sells complete with shipping anywhere for a total of $218. I have nothing but good things to say about this comfy bracelet and watch combination. It's every bit as comfortable as some of my Breitlings and far more expensive timepieces. It's negative (all black with silver/bronze numerals ) display is very easy to read and very, very clear.

Here is a link to the shop, they provided the best online buying experience I've ever had. Just 4 days from Japan to my door in the USA. The easiest and best experience I have had, bar none. I highly endorse them.

The watch the last model on this page of three: it's a GW-6900BC-1JF

Congratulations on your new purchase, you have made a great choice!

I'm really loving these new G negative displays, compared to my earlier ones like the 6900MS the difference is night and day. The clarity, the instant "at a glance" readability is superb!

Don't forget to post pics when you get it... I want to see it....

    Cheers...

Thanks, Archer! I heard that the negative displays are much better than the earlier models, too. That's why I'm taking a chance on this one... even though I fully expect the legibility is not likely to be similar to the positive display.

    Will post pictures.
