    Alarm and beep loudness

During a spare hour, with my collection out, I thought I would do a test to see which watch had the loudest beep and alarm.

Here are the results of my not very scientific survey.

    Loudest first:

    GW-6900-1
    DW-5600E
    GW-5000-1JR
    DW-5000SL-1
    DW-5600C
    GW-M5600BC

There was not much difference between the 6900 and the 5600E. The Spike Lee and the 5600C were quieter than the 5600E. My other screwback the GW-5000 just pipped the SL and 5600C. Quietest of all is the GW-M5600, which I assume has something to do with it having the smallest case.

    Hi Dkpw,

Thanks for the alarm volume test. My AWG-100 is louder than the GW-M850. It may have something to do with the pitch, as a higher frequency seems to be harder to hear... Did you notice that in your test?

Also, I apologize for this slightly off-topic question, but my next purchase will be a square, either the GW-5000 or the GW-M5600. I see that you have both, so could you tell me which one you prefer, and if the 5000 is worth the extra dough?

    Regards,

    Pierre

Good info, I overslept my 5600-RB alarm yesterday morning. I would like to run the tests myself on my G's !

Good info but I am surprised the solar GW-6900 comes out on top. From what I read here and in my own experience the solar models are not as loud as the ordinary models in general. I know this is the case for all of mine. My DW-6060 and G-7710 are both louder than any of my other Gs which are all solar atomic including a GW-6900.

Among the following models the loudness is decreasing in the order they are listed:
    GW5600J (loudest before hydro mod)
    Gw6900
    GW-2500
GW-M5600 (just a faint bit less than the 2500)

When I'm back home I can compare them to the non-solars and see which is louder.

    Till

I had in the pass measured my G's with a decibel meter.
I will need to look for the thread.

That would be the way to be sure. My tests were subjective to say the least but @Till the GW6900 was definitely the loudest. All my tests were done "off wrist."

The loudest alarm I've heard on any Casio is the PAG40.

I think that the GWM5600 is the quietest because it's got Atomic Solar and a smaller battery output voltage. The Atomic Solar and the Solar Casio g-Shocks all have alarms which are not very loud at all.

Just tested my GW-M5600 and the GW-9200. The Riseman won this battle with an respectable edge.

I do not have a non-solar/-atomic G to check, if there is a difference between them. But I think there surely is.
