Alarm Tone and Electro Luminescence On GW-5000

I own a DW5600e, whose alarm tone is almost sufficient.
I have read many threads about a lower volume on the GW m5610, with a less bright electro luminescence.
I would like to buy a GW-5000, which probably represents the best G-Shock, unless you tell me that alarm tone and electro luminescence are lower than my DW5600e.

    I have both GW-5000 and DW-5600E

The 5600E alarm is louder, longer lasting and has the light flash on alarm activation, all points against the GW-5000 alarm use. Sorry to say.

GW-5000 alarm length is 10 seconds with no light flash.
DW-5600E is 20 seconds as is the light flash.

Re: Alarm Tone and Electro Luminescence On GW-5000

I just compared the two side-by-side. The GW-5000 beep is higher pitched and a little less loud and it's EL backlight is slightly dimmer and more blueish but the the digits are bigger and it's easier to read in the dark with the backlight on.

Upon comparing most of my Gs, it seems that somewhere around the turn of the century CASIO started using higher pitched piezo disks in G-Shocks. Not louder, in fact, probably less attention grabbing, but higher pitched.

I was surprised to find that the only G I have which seems to stand out a little bit above the others (not much mind you) in regards to alarm sound is the DW-5030C (Resist Black 30th Anniversary). Perhaps the steel case has something to do with that, however the GW-5000 doesn't 'project' at all.

I almost never wear any watch other than a G-Shock. My collection is listed here-->http://watchshock.com/collection/1471/

Other watches: Invicta Sub-Aqua Venom 5733 & Coalition Forces 0225, Suunto Vector, Traser Mil-G Type 6 P6600 Celebration Edition, Luminox 3059.SAR and a few cheap Timex & Armitron

The GW-5000 uses the same module as the GW-5610. I find that the bleep in the GW-5600, GW-5610 and GW-5000 to be so quiet that it useless if you need to use the alarm or CDT functions. For me this is a show stopper.

The 5600E has a bleep that is at least audible and I find it the same as my DW-5000SL. The reality is that I sometimes miss the alarm because I can't hear it. However, by using the Flash Alert function on the 5600E this increases the chance of noticing the alarm in some situations.

Also the EL illuminates for about a second on the solar models and for 3 seconds on the 5600E.

I personally rarely use the alarm on g-shock. yes i agree with fwupow that 5030 seem to have "crisper and clearer" tone... but if you wear one on sleep and a pillow cover it or it sits between the arm and bed, you wont hear when the alarm kick in..although in the 5030, the 20 seconds duration would help a bit.
but i have tried and the beeping alarm rarely succed to alert me to wake up.

if i need the alarm, the vibrating GB-5600 and GD-350 are the most helpful for me..

i've tried many times and the vibrating alarm on GB-5600 always 100% succed to alert me to wake up.. its so brilliant!

i oftenly use the GB-5600 than GD-350 because its square and slimmer.. the 350 is to bulky.. if i got the GB5600 the first prior the GD-350, i wont buy the GD-350. its to bulky on my wrist.
