    Almost new 2900, some question

I just got a good deal on a 2900 ( ebay only $20), anyway the straps has some fading and I would like to replace those, the size are 16mm, can you guys point in the right direction, I am looking for some generic pvc or silicon watch band, I do not want to pay around $20 for the originals

    I found this one

Hadley Roma MS3153 16mm Black PVC Rubber Men's Diver Watch Band | eBay

    any advice ?

Pacparts has the original Casio strap for $10.31 and $4.95 shipping: Casio G2900-1A Parts and Accessories

Most Casio straps have the same shape as the Hadley Roma strap you linked, with a wide strap that narrows dramatically at the lugs. Obviously, most "normal" 16mm straps that are 16mm for the entire width are going to look goofy on a G-Shock, and are best suited for women's watches.

G-Shock straps are also designed in three dimensions, and there's usually some sort of "block" on the underside which keeps the strap from rotating around the springbar.

I've read hundreds of threads here about straps, and because of Casio's design, there really aren't many alternatives out there, nor are they discussed much around here. I'm curious to see what else people suggest!

+1 what Mike K has said.

I have a g2900 and feel that an original strap replacement will look and fit much better than an aftermarket strap. My advice is to order an original from pacparts.

I'd say order at least a couple, in order to make it all worth while.
    G-Shocks:
    DW-5000-1JF (w/ 5030 display) <-Daily Wearer
    GW-5000-1JF |DW-5600E | DW-5000-1JF (x2) <-Ya know...for backup...
    DW-5030 | DW-5000SL (x2) | DW-6900...something.

    Got Square!?

Re: Almost new 2900, some question

In addition, the G2900's face and front of the strap appear to be curved, as the GW-2310 pictured below. The now-discontinued adapters in the picture below are also curved to match.

Installing a flat strap will probably result in some sort of weird "shelf" or gap or overhang where the edges of the flat strap don't line up where a curved edge might. In the example on the left, it might just look slightly "off," but if the strap is sticking out past the front of the watch as in the example on the right, that might look a little TOO weird.

Since it's a used watch, though looks in good condition outside, you'd be surprised the gunk you will find under the resin bezel. If for me, I would order replacement resins while I'm at it ordering the replacement band from Pacparts. The G2900F costs around $55 brand new, you will still be spending under that amount even with the genuine replacement parts.

Re: Almost new 2900, some question

After looking at the pictures of the watch. The resin is just a bit oxidized from sweat and heat. I bet that resin will clean up nice and look good as new.

Use warm soapy water, dish soap is fine, and an old toothbrush. Take off the resin, very easy to do, two spring bars and some bezel screws. The shiny inner bezel is most likely held on with adhesive tape, leave it. Scrub the resin pretty robustly and then dry it off. You are essentiallYou should see the resin look good as new. When putting the resin back on DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE BEZEL SCREWS. Remember the watch case is resin(plastic) after all.
