An anniversary model, with benefits. (no.... not those kind of benefits!). DW-5700ML-1JF

I do really like the 20th Anniversary ML G Shocks. The pink and red colour LCDs are really striking.

Here is another of them that I got a little while ago the DW-5700ML, a lovely thing not seen about a lot on the forum.

I fell really lucky with this eventually as you will see.

The watch did not come in the original 20th anniversary tin just a standard one.

However, whilst I was browsing on Yahoo someone had a limited edition, NOS 'G' for sale, a different model completely. The price was really good for this model, even though I was not looking for it actually.
However, he said in addition he would send it in an unconnected but special box. I saw the box and bought the watch and here is the box.

So I actually do now have my DW-5700ML in an appropriate and quite rare 20th anniversary case. The standard box the 5700 came in is also the correct box for the other watch as well. Win win!

This box is quite rare and they are not seen often and come with a fair price tag. There is one for sale on Yahoo at the moment for about $120!

So really chuffed with how this has all turned out. A couple of wrist shots to finish.

Fantastic!!! I have yet to find one of that model.

I absolutely love the 5700 design. I actually like it better than the G-Shock squares. Less exposed crystal to get damaged, and thicker bezel protection around the crystal. Probably my favorite G-Shock ever.

Unfortunately, it's very hard to find resin bezel spares. I bought a few Rising White DW-5700 spares when they came out, for when my black bezels die.

I was sorely disappointed that Casio did not do a DW-5700 anniversary screwback reissue this year. A major omission on their part, IMHO.

    My two DW-5700 screwback reissues:

I use to have a working mirror display G-5700, but the module died.

Love the ML's, and had no idea about that box. In particular that 5700 looks fantastic!

I have yet to own a 5700, when talking about the ML specifically, are there resin rot issues or are they relatively safe?

Mitch. There was absolutely zero need to make that clarification. Before you mentioned it, no one was thinking that was even a possibility, or imagining what it might entail.

But nice pick up, a classic. Congrats.

I've had a few. Be careful about used examples. New or unworn and you should be fine.

    Cheers Chris.

As for the resin, this is the trouble with the DW-5700ML, I think the resin is unique to the watch and if it crumbles you are stuck.

Also it appears that even though it is a 2003 watch it may have an old resin composition, because it does seem to rot more than it should for a watch of that era.

Luckily the resin is fine on mine and it will be mainly kept in the dark so I am hopeful it will not deteriorate any time soon.
