Another watch has failed the test against my 2 G-Shocks.

Well, after about 6 months or so, my Timex T49617 has gotten moisture in it.

    There goes another watch.

I have own the G-Shock MTG930DA-8V for 5 years and it still reliable.

    *KNOCK ON WOOD*.

My G-Shock GW-5600J-1 is still good too.

The resin strap can take alot.
The MTG is retired and the 5600 too. Right now, the only working G-Shocks that I use and enjoy are the Riseman GW9200-1 and the GW6900-1

If I can own a Rolex Submariner I would. I know they are tough too, their homages are tough. Trust me.

    G-Shock MTG930DA-8V, G-Shock GW-5600J-1. G-Shock Riseman GW9200-1, G-Shock GW6900-1

still need to keep those gaskets greased every couple of years

dry out your timex and grease the gasket and you're probably good to go again

You can't expect anything less from a G.

+1, Thats the first thing I thought when I read the post. I have 23 Ironman/Expedition watches and none have ever, failed, leaked or let me down in any way. Make sure your crown and caseback are screwed down tight and your caseback o-ring is lubed.

A G-Shock is still superior, but I do trust and love my Timex's!

Hey my DW5700 lasted about 20 years with no maintenance. The resin just rotted. still has original battery and was running last time I looked.

Pick up a Casio and Timex and you can feel the difference right away.

Sayng that, the Timex I had (now gone) had a great screen, great interface and great features. In this respect it was very easy to use and beat most G-Shocks hands down on features. I also had a nice digi-ana from Timex but again it's the quality that lets some of them down from being an ok watch with great features compared to a great watch with great features.

Will probably get a Casio again (had a G a few months ago) as I trust the quality and fit and finish more.

True. Timex watches have great features that are otherwise compromised by poor build quality. I mean, would having iPod functionality help in surviving physical impacts?

Besides, the slim digits on a Timex digital turn me off.
