Anyone limit themselves to solar only?

I've ordered my first G in a long time, the GW9100-1 Gulfman. I haven't owned a G-shock in many years but now I'm back. It's pre-owned (watch store return) and got it for $100 shipped.

Does anyone limit themselves to just the solar models? I really have an attraction to them - there's just something unseemly about the thought of cracking open the case every couple of years for battery changes!

I'm aware that the capacitors in the solar models don't last forever, but they last a long time nonetheless.

No. Its a preference but not a deal breaker for me if the watch is not solar.
Couple of watches here and there

Yes. Helps me to curb spending and I find it fun to have a theme. Never let anyone try to 'logic' you out of a bit of simple fun, I say.

I own and wear both solar and non-solar g-Shocks. My regular everyday watch is the DW5600E-1V and the Solar G5600E. I also wear my DW6600-1V a lot too.

Re: Anyone limit themselves to solar only?

When I first started getting into G's, I did limit myself to solar/atomic. I don't know what it was, but I guess a cool factor, and a nerd factor at the same time. However, my last two g's, a DW6600 and incoming G9000MX-8 are non-solar, non-atomic. I think I would prefer to keep all solar/atomic, but if I like a design and feel it deserves a spot in my collection, I will order it. Plus, I plan on getting a gulfman and love the non solar/atomic version, but really am turned off by the solar/atomic. I don't see why they don't design a solar/atomic gulfman with a tide chart and moon phase graph...

    Behold ... the solar/atomic gulfman with tide & moon - GW-9110:

As for solar & me - I prefer it, was once exclusive to it, but I'm better now. If there's a model that I like its design & features, but doesn't have solar I'm not thrown off anymore.
