    Atomic Solar/Waveceptor question

    OK, the Atomic Solar/Waveceptor concept.

I have seen them described in the US as picking up the signal from Fort Collins, and European models described as picking up the signal from Rugby (UK) and Frankfurt (D).

I take it this is automatic dependant on your location in either the US or the UK? ...the watch picks up the signal from the available source ...... or do you have to purchase a signal specific watch for your location in the world :-S

If the description mentions one transmitter, then that is the only transmitter from which it will pick up the signal.

Some models will receive from more than one transmitter, in which case the watch will pick up the nearest one automatically (if you've set it to 'auto').

A few recent models (e.g. the GW-9000) will receive from all transmitters, and one would hope that this will soon be a standard for new waveceptors.

In short - if you live in the UK, a waveceptor sold in other markets is very unlikely to receive in the UK unless it specifically mentions Rugby. It may work if it mentions Frankfurt but not Rugby, as there is a lot of overlap between the two transmitters. Most of the waveceptors sold in Europe and the UK receive from both Frankfurt and Rugby. There are maps of transmitter ranges on one of the Casio websites (can't remember which one...).

I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...
