Awfull G-Shock-"Homages" at Discounter in Germany

    Hello fellas,

found this... let's say "homages"... to the G-7900 and the classic Squares at the actual newsletter of a big german Discounter.

IMHO they are looking awfull... G-Shocks are not really expensive so nobody has to buy this crap.

    No, the other one

I was surprised to see those bad, but detailed copies (especially the G-7900-clone). Isn't the design protected by any laws?

Tom, it's this one, Lidl. Very similar to Aldi and Hofer.

I saw the same ad in our newletter from Lidl, they will be avaliable on 24th. I will buy one, haven't decided which color yet.

They cost 8.99 €, really curious how the quality compares to g-shock. And they have 3 year warranty, seems like Lidl believes in quality I was just thinking of getting a cheap, used g-shock for work around the house and similar, but looks like I won't have to now.

Thanks for sharing and for the information Nik. Very interesting indeed. Wow 3 years warranty. That's a lot but they simply exchange the watch if the customer complains I guess. No repair job.

Yen the will exchange the watch. Lidl is very generous in a warranty case. Have had two warranty issues and everytime they gave me a new item.

I really dislike warranty claims at the LIDL or ALDI.

When I get there, I have to approach the cash register from the exit, tap the lady on her shoulder, wait for her to finish with her current customer. Then this whole complicated warranty procedure starts, while an entire line of angry customers (that I skipped in front of, technically) is staring at me for returning a €10 watch.

So I usually throw it in the garbage. Unless it is of higher value.

We should all buy the worst homages and start a thread called "what awful homage are you wearing today". and then give props for the worst one.

This is a really true and precise description of the warranty procedure. Could not have written it better!
